Company & Community Overview

EdWeb 2.0 was developed by Tierra Software Development.
On September 7, 2010, Tierra Software Development released EdWeb 2.0 as open source under GPLv3 licensing under the name Open EdWeb.

Tierra Software Development will continue active development on EdWeb, as well as provide hosting of EdWeb for school districts that would like to use it in hosted mode.

We also encourage school districts to download and setup Open EdWeb for their own use for free, and join in the community by helping others in the use of EdWeb, and spreading the word about EdWeb so that others know about it, and can get the benefits it provides as well.

Under the Community section of this site is a pointer to the EdWeb forums for use by the community to ask and answer questions in support of EdWeb. I know the Tightwad Tech guys don't like the use of forums, and honestly, I don't either. But I'll give it a shot unless somebody has a better way to share what's going on.

As the open source side of EdWeb has just come about, there is no developer community at this point. Building a community of helpers going forward is a goal - and help can come in all ways whether it be help on development, testing, finding fixes, enhancements, replacements for commercial controls used, training materials, help site updates, etc...

A big part of building the community is just letting people know about the existence of Open EdWeb. If you would like to help in that respect by adding a link to your site about Open EdWeb, please use the following to link to this site:

<img src="http://open.edweb.us/graphics/openedwebturtle.gif" alt="Ed Webster, the original EdWebber" > <a href="http://open.edweb.us" target="_blank" style="color:#6600ff" title="Open EdWeb - Open Source CMS for Education">Open EdWeb - Open Source CMS for Education</a>

The link will then appear like this:

The official release of Open EdWeb has changed...
I got an urgent request to include a district-level 'Board Policies & Admin Regs' function into EdWeb in the next 2 or 3 weeks, and that's an important aspect for EdWeb going forward, so I pushed forward the release date to 09/07/2010 so that I can include the basic infrastucture pieces in the initial release.
